SYNTHESIS 3

The Wavetable Engine

Synthesis 3 is where Primer stops being a subtractive trainer and becomes a modern wavetable synth course. You'll learn the wavetable itself, scanning through a row of wave cycles to change timbre in ways no filter can copy, and the mod matrix, the board where you wire any source to any destination yourself.

Instead of using pre-wired connections, you'll build your own routings and hear exactly what each one does. You'll work through warp modes on simple shapes first, modulation amount and direction, unipolar versus bipolar movement, and a second oscillator for layering, detuning, and a first careful look at FM. By the end, you'll be able to build an evolving wavetable lead and a Reese bass by ear, cold. The goal is real fluency with the tools in Vital, Serum, and Ableton's Wavetable: not preset tweaking, but knowing what to connect and why.
